Easy Miso Cup O’ Soup – Flu Fighter

By Sari Huhtala

Considering the multiple health benefits miso offers and the simplicity of stirring up a cup of miso soup in 30 seconds, it’s not a stretch to make this health elixir part of a daily diet. And surprisingly, when put to the test, even toddlers will enjoy its flavour.

Miso, a Japanese food made with fermented soy bean paste and other ingredients, is not only chock full of nutrients like vitamin B2, vitamin K, protein, iron, calcium, potassium and lecithin, but it also provides a source of healthy fats to help lower levels of LDL – bad cholesterol.

What’s more, as a fermented food it aids in boosting the immune system by increasing healthy gut bacteria as a natural probiotic, and serves as a potent antioxidant, eliminating free radicals from the body.

Miso Cup O’ Soup

  • 1 tbsp organic miso
  • ½ clove grated garlic
  • ¼ inch piece grated ginger
  • Dash of cayenne

Mix ingredients in a mug. Pour boiling water into cup and stir well, and enjoy.
